Additional Referral Services

You will be reffered for these procedures.

Bone strength scan (DEXA scan)

When the hormone oestrogen falls around the time of the menopause, bones rapidly lose their strength, and this increases the chance you might break a bone from a fall or even a knock. If you have broken a bone in the past or are worried about your bones weakening as you age, let our experts measure the strength of your bones and advise you on how to best protect them for the future.

Body composition scans

Body composition scans provide an accurate and precise measurement of body fat and muscle distribution. If you’re at the beginning of a weight loss or fitness journey, having a body composition scan before and after will enable you to monitor the changes in body fat and muscle mass in your arms, legs and trunk.

Ultrasound scans

Bleeding can be a common side effect when you first start taking HRT. If you are troubled by persistent or unusual vaginal bleeding during your perimenopause or menopause, we can arrange for you to have a detailed ultrasound scan of your womb (uterus) and ovaries. This will then help you determine the best course of action for you.

Coil fitting (Mirena)

Many women have a Mirena coil as the progestogen part of their HRT to protect the lining of the womb (uterus). It can be a very convenient way of keeping the lining of your womb (uterus) thin and healthy while you take oestrogen. This also works as a contraception and lasts for five years after which time it can be replaced.
